SHAUN ADAMSON

Lessons From a Life Spent Near Death

Keynote Speaker

Why Shaun

He's Not Here as a Professional. He's Here as Someone Who Has Lived It

Most people who talk about resilience have read the books and done the courses.

Shaun has done none of that … and that's the point. He nearly drowned at sixteen. He searched for IEDs in Afghanistan. He was trapped underwater as a diver, and suited up again the next day. He pulled a bleeding man from a wrecked van on the side of a highway. Earlier this year, he lost his best friend.

Every single time, he found a reason to keep going. That's not a theory he teaches. It's a life he's lived.

The Evidence

A Life That Earns the Right to Speak

This isn't a CV. It's the reason a room believes him. Every word Shaun says about fear, grief and survival traces back to a real moment.

2007

Nearly drowned in the ocean. The first time he understood how fast life can be taken from you.

2012

Deployed to Afghanistan as a Combat Engineer – searching for IEDs – where every step could be the last.

2013

Trapped underwater as a commercial diver, his breathing gear torn from his mouth. He went back in the next day.

2015

Joined Life Flight Rescue as an aircrewman on their rescue helicopter.

2018–22

Earned his wings and flew for the Royal Flying Doctors Service, landing on outback dirt strips lit by burning toilet rolls.

2021

First on the scene at a roadside crash. A man was bleeding out. Shaun broke the glass, climbed in, and saved his life.

2026

Lost his best friend to suicide. He always backed Shaun in whatever endeavour he was doing. His unwavering support throughout Shaun's life has pushed Shaun to follow his heart and start speaking.
